<p>When we started New Lyfe Clothing, it was really a hobby more than anything. I had no idea the lives we would effect with some simple t-shirt designs. That just goes to show how passionate people are about recovery.</p>
<h2>What Was The Inspiration Behind New Lyfe Clothing Co?</h2>
<p>Recovery and addiction should not be a secret. We wanted to create a clothing line that speaks about the benefits of recovery, and away from the false pretense of glamorizing drug use.</p>
<p>In society, when we look at how the general public sees addiction, addicts are always portrayed as "train wrecks." Shows like Intervention and Celebrity Rehab make millions of dollars writing stories on the suffering of people struggling with addiction. No one ever talks about the flip side.</p>
<p>No one ever highlights the beautiful success stories of people who have found recovery and have done amazing things with their lives.</p>
<p>That was the idea behind New Lyfe Clothing. Addicts are not train wrecks. We are strong and we are proud of where we come from, and there's no reason we shouldn't have a way to express ourselves in that capacity.</p>
<h2>What Does New Lyfe Clothing Stand For?</h2>
<p>The New Lyfe line is for fighters.</p>
<h3>We Believe In Strength</h3>
<p>Considering everything that we have been through, we have become strong. We have endured unbearable pain and we have come out the other side with a new outlook. We look to have a humble contentment about ourselves, because we know that if we have gotten this far, we can get through anything.</p>
<h3>We Believe In Confidence</h3>
<p>Just be yourself! Ask yourself, what do you believe in? What matters to you? We believe that you should never be afraid to be who you are.</p>
<h3>We Believe In Independence</h3>
<p>The fact that you had the guts to get sober is proof enough that you are independent. In this world where everyone is telling you to play it safe, to be like everyone else, to go to the bar on weekends and to dress a certain way, it can be easy to blend into the crowd. We don't require permission to express ourselves, and with that, we accept other people for who they are as well. We stand on our own two feet.</p>
<h3>We Believe In Helping Each Other</h3>
<p>At the root of it all, we must be there for others when they are in need. Community and fellowship is the foundation. If we don't have each other, then we have nothing. We don't need to wear a badge of honor, we don't need to brag, we simply need to be there for the next addict when he or she needs help.</p>
<h2>Street Wear and Recovery</h2>
<p>We consider New Lyfe to be a street wear line.</p>
<p>Many of us come from the streets. Not all of us, but it's safe to say that lots of recovered addicts have built on experience running the streets. We look to incorporate that style within our message.</p>
<p>When you have some of the experiences that we have, you learn to adapt quickly. We are people who have persevered, and so we want to celebrate that in our designs.</p>
<p>Also, we want to appeal to young people. We know that addiction and recovery is slowly becoming more accepted into our society, but we still have a long way to go. Changing the views of young people is the key to breaking the stigma of addiction.</p>
<p>New Lyfe is a rebellion against the stigma of addiction.</p>

<p>In order to break the stigma, we have to start talking about recovery. We need to not be afraid to talk about who we are. Just because you had a problem with addiction, does not make you weak. The reality is that if you were able to find the strength to address your problem and get sober, you are one of the few elite men and women in the world. Getting clean sober is so hard, and that accomplishment should be celebrated.</p>
<p>We see this to be a very important piece of building the recovery culture, some might even call it a counter culture.</p>
<p>Community has always been the backbone of New Lyfe Clothing. From the beginning we tried to bring people together and build a place where we could talk about addiction and recovery. An open forum where we could have open conversation about things that we still may not fully understand.</p>
